Armondo Dellasanta
2 March - 31 March 2012
Opening Reception: Friday, 2 March 2012 | 6-9 pm
About the exhibition:
From the estate of Armondo Dellasanta, we are honored to present an exhibition of works by one of our region's most beloved and celebrated painters. A highly prolific artist for over seventy years, this exhibition will feature over 50 paintings of Binghamton, NY and New York City, depicting both cities from the 1950s - 1970s. These paintings are from the artist's personal collection, many of which will be on display for the very first time. Also included in this exhibition will be a rare and special look at one of Dellasanta's earliest works dating from 1940; a portrait of a young boy which is suspected to be the artist himself.
"People enjoy Armondo's work because they are of old Binghamton - and it brings back memories and feelings of nostalgia. Their response is often and emotional one - evoking something that is far greater than just a memory of Binghamton and New York City, but more personally they were reminded of who THEY were in the past. That is what one wants in a great piece of art - an emotional response to it - and that is what Armondo's work does to the people of Binghamton" - Tom Kelleher (Tom's Coffee & Gifts, Binghamton, NY)
We invite you to join us for the opening reception and throughout the month of March as we remember a man of remarkable talent, whose humble and kind spirit touched many in the Binghamton community and beyond.
