Binghamton (WIVT) – A local street photographer is displaying the evolution of his work depicting local residents he says can’t easily have their own voice.
Ever Onward: Chapter 2 is the name of the second solo show by Tice Lerner opening this Friday at the Anthony Brunelli Gallery in Binghamton.
Lerner spends considerable time interacting and building relationships with his subjects before taking their pictures spontaneously.
He said he’s refined his craft giving him greater trust and access with them.
Lerner rejects the notion that his work is simply a post-apocalyptic, Twilight Zone-like exploitation of people living on the margin.
He said his subjects have a lot to offer society.
“It represents potential and the ability to do big amazing things. And yes, it’s edgy, and it’s interesting and its unique,” he said.
The show has an opening this Friday evening from 6-9 p.m.
There will also be a closing reception with a presentation by Lerner on Saturday,May 30th from 5-6:30 p.m.
